Friends of Seamab
Seamab School is funded by the individual child's local authority. This funding has its limits, as providing the level of care, education and therapy tailored to each child's individual needs is very expensive.
Extra funds are always required so that the children have access to a wide a range of appropriate activities, particularly during the school holidays.
Friends of Seamab are a small group of volunteers who work to:
- raise the awareness of the local community to the needs of the children and the aims of the school.
- organise events to raise funds to buy Christmas and birthday presents for the children and to provide other gifts that help the children to feel loved and wanted.
- provide holiday activities, especially during the summer. This often includes not only providing the funding but also working directly with the children.
- provide lots of extras to help the staff of the school to make the children's living accommodation as homely as possible.
